Adventures With Short People
Shamala’s great southern rival, Neo Hampshiria guards and profits from the maritime routes between east and west. The Dukes of Neo Hampshiria are ambitious, and have frequently attempted to use the might of their navy to try and subdue the other Ralan city-states, and the Ogemini tribes to the south.
Neo Hampshiria’s wealth is derived almost wholly from the sea: riching fishing in Hampshirian coastal waters have profited its fishermen enormously, and the sea trade between the Occident and the other nations to the east have made Neo Hampshiria a truly wealthy city. However, it is constantly in competition with Shamala to bring more trade south through its waters, rather than north through the Nama Pass. In response to the Shamalan construction of Meromo, the Hampshirians built Fort Campon with similar intentions: to strengthen their presence and protect their invaluable trade routes.
Using their strong navy, the Dukes of Neo Hampshiria have ofttimes tried to extend their influence southwards, to the Ogemini tribes, or northwards, along the Ralan Peninsula. In the nascent days of the [[Occident, and before its foundation, they would also raid and intimidate the villages of the Occidental coast, although the descendants of King Lastran have fought back against this, leading to a sharp curtailing of Hampshirian strength in the west.
